Jet Contractors Saw

I made some modifications to my saw in the months that I've had it. FIrst thing I did was replace the 30" OEM Jet Fence with a Vega 50" Utility fence. There wasn't anything in particular wrong with the Jet Fence, I just wanted a fence with the micro-adjustment capability.

I then removed the right extension wing and added a table. I also added a table to the rear of the saw.

The next thing I did was remove the stock splitter/guard and installed the Biesemeyer Anti-Kickback Spreader. This splitter requires the use of 1/8" kerf blades so I purchased a Freud LM72R010 rip blade and an LU84R011 combination blade.

The next modification was to the the saw body. I wanted to increase the suction from the Dust Collector. The first thing I did was block off the rear opening of the saw. For this I used some 1/8" fiberboard. It's made in two pieces and I used stick-on magnet strip to attach the air dam to the saw.

I also blocked the openings up under the table. I inserted styrofoam between the saw body and the table as pictured below.

Well, that's it for now but I do see a blade guard somewhere in my future.
